The maze
runner
By James
Dashner
The book is
about a boy, who wakes up in a lift. He can’t remember anything about his past,
except the fact that his name is Thomas. When the lift doors open, a group of
boys, who call themselves Gladers, pull him out into a huge glade. The glade is
surrounded by high walls, and Thomas quickly discovers, that there is a maze
outside of the glade. Every night the doors close to protect the boys from
grievers; huge creatures which is extremely dangerous.
Every
single day the boys do their job in the maze. A lot of the boys work at the
farm, but there is also a few, who work as runners. Their job is to run out in
the maze every day to memorize the maze and find a way out. But if they don’t make
it back before the night, they will be trapped in the maze with the grievers,
and no one has ever survived a night in the maze. In spite of everything Thomas
knows about the maze, he feels an urge to be a runner.
A day after
Thomas arrived, a strange thing happens. A girl in coma arrives in the maze
with the message, that she is the last one ever to arrive in the maze. Thomas
then sees two runners struggling to make it back to the glade. He decides to
help them; therefore, he runs into the maze. Together they survive the night,
and the rest of the boys decide to make Thomas a runner. One day the girl wakes
up, and everything begins to chance. The sun disappears, the deliveries of
supplies stop coming, and the doors stay open at night, which allows the
Grievers to kill the boys one-by-one. It is now urgent, that the boys find the
way out of the maze.
