Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
The story is about a little boy, named Oskar.
His father died when he was little, in the 9/11 accident. Oskar lives in
Manhattan with his mother, who often is working. Oskar´s overly protective
grandma lives across the street. Oskar Is a very emotional child and that
entail in that Oskar gets victim of his many fears and
phobias. Long time after the
accident Oscar finds a key in his father’s closet. Oscar is a very curios boy, and
he meticulously plans a quest to find its purpose, hoping that by finding
its owner, he might find out more about his father's last days. Because the key was in an envelope with the name “Black”, he travels all over the five boroughs to meet everyone with the family name
“Black”. He interviews many interesting people on his way, including Abby
Black, who seems to know more about the key than she is telling Oscar, and Mr.
Black who is an old man, but he agrees to help Oscar on his Journey. After
eight months of searching, they are still no closer to figure out the mystery. The
last part of the book is more closely on the relationships with his mother,
grandma, and his grandpa.
