The Hunger Games is about Katniss, who is a girl from district 12. There is 12 different districts and a big city called the Capitol in Panem. The Capitol is the leading city, where the president lives. Each year The Hunger Games takes place, and one girl and one boy is randomly chosen from each district. The persons who have to take part in The Hunger Games are called tributes.

Katniss little sister Prim is chosen, but Katniss volunteers. Peeta Mellark is also chosen to be a tribute. Katniss and Peeta travel to the Capitol, where they train and prepare for the games. The Hunger Games is entertainment for the people in the Capitol, so the tributes are interviewed before the games. Peeta says at the interview, that he is in love with Katniss.

The Hunger Games begins and only one person can survive, but the gamemakers change the rules. Now two tributes from the same district can win.
